MOBSTERS LOBSTERS AND METAPHYSICS a synopsis
CARMINE ESPOSITO is the son of a mob boss who has led an extremely colorful and at times violent life. As a young man he was not interested in becoming a member of the Cosa Nostra. His father however, lived for the opportunity to become part of this elite crime organization. Carmine was educated and excelled in business. His father was illiterate and jealous of the attention his son received from prominent members of the mob family that his son was born into. Ultimately Carmine embraced the very life he resisted. After years of street life Carmine spent years as a fugative, his image and name broadcasted on the tv show America's Most Wanted as one of the most sought after men in America. Finally, Carmine surrendered to the FBI and awaited trial for seversl years on Rikers Island where he was ultimately acquited. Now in his fifties Carmine seeks to salvage what is left of his life.
And this is where our story begins... Driving cross country in a fifty-three foot tractor trailer, Carmine has only one thing on his mind...making a score. A legitimate score where he can live out his life with some sort of dignity. Where does a street-guy with this past turn to make such a score? Well, Hollywood of course. His search leads him to MIKEY BEVONI, a younger olive-oil voiced actor trying to make it in the entertainment business...and failing...miserably. Undaunted, Mikey encourages Carmine to give him a shot at selling his story. Frustrated by the vagaries of the entertainment business, Carmine agrees. Mikey sets out to find a producer. Mikey meets Patty. An Emmy-award winning film maker. "Mo....all these producers these days are broads...she's won emmys...all kinds of prizes" is how Mikey pitches this female producer to a dubious Carmine. And before you know it, a partnership is formed. Their luck has changed. They are going to make a movie! What Carmine and Mikey don't know however, is that this producer has not made a film in nearly fifteen years. That she survives....barely...as a waitress on an island in the Florida Keys and that she is in L.A not to make a movie deal but to find hopefully husband number four through an internet date. None the less, a partnership is formed and an adventure has begun. The movie is about what happens along the way. It is a dramatic, funny, life changing true story about an ex-street guy becoming the unlikely hero.
